It’s been a while since I’ve created new pieces for my Graphic Flora series and lately I’ve been getting the hankering. That was my first real cohesive painting series and it has been good to me, putting me on the local art scene map. Since then I’ve made forays into other styles of art, but as things go in cycles, I think it’s time to revisit that series. I took some pictures over the weekend of a lovely bunch of tulips and a wonderfully blooming azalea bush at a friend’s that I’m eager to turn into paintings. It’s nice to feel motivated to create art that’s not deadline-dependent.
On a semi-unrelated note, I bit the bullet and decided to get some large cardboard boxes from Uline.com in which is store/transport my paintings. Right now I use large bags mad out of bubble wrap that a friend kindly donated several years ago, but I’ve noticed that when I transport a bunch of paintings somewhere since they don’t lie perfectly flat sometimes the paintings can get a little warped–usually from other paintings in the pile poking into them. These will also be good for when the paintings are just hanging out in my studio, protected and able to stack neatly.
Turned out to be quite a party in good ole downtown LA! Thanks to all friends old and new who made the evening so memorable.

Create:Fixate’s 10th anniversary show
It’s been a fun year, but I think 2012 is going to be even better! First of all, on January 5th, Wallspace will be opening their new gallery space at 607 Nth La Brea LA, CA 90036 (M-F 11a-6p and by appt). I’ll have a bunch of paintings displayed, and hopefully it will lead to more rentals for movie and TV projects, which is what Wallspace specializes in. Then on Saturday February 11th I’ll be part of Create:Fixate‘s 10 year anniversary show, which should be pretty damn cool.
